Craig Green, a falmouth based author is celebrating this week after winning 2 awards for his work on Clickety Books. Silver and Gold practical pre-school and primary teachers updates awards! Craig enjoyed talking to Tiffany Truscott on BBC Radio Cornwall. You can defiantly hear Craig’s enthusiasm as he talks about the team that makes Clickety Books.

The new Clickety Books Website!

The new site design had to include elements such as:

• A book shop
• A resources area
• New feed and blog
• Voice player
• Character interaction
• Engaging elements 
• Bright and warming imagery

The design process was a fun one, Trying to keep the consistency of the brand, styling of the character and also I wanted to most importantly get the character on the website directing and assisting you! Fun is always a key ingredient so the books and resources are light hearted and richly illustrated. S this way key in the elements of the new site.

The Pets at Home chain is the UK’s largest pet shop with a massive range of pet supplies online. They offer all you could think of in terms of food, toys and neccecities for pets.

They have a campaign in store for all customers where they have the opportunity to give customer feedback on service and the store.

I was approached by my local store to create some small ways of getting the information to the customer in a fun yet professional way.

Here’s what I presented to them!

The Barkers:

These are designed to be given to the customer and the member of staff writes their name on them so that the customer is aware of whom it was that served them.

The Poster:

These are to be placed around the store to inform customers of the Fish For Opinion scheme.

Dainty Dizzy is a new business set up by Justine Rogers.  She approached me when the business was just a concept, and asked me to develop her entire brand, including a logo, business cards and stationery, the website and even labels for the clothing. As the products are for kids the brand needed to be quite colourful and funky, which means Dainty Dizzy has a really distinctive brand.

It has been a fantastic project to work on and the website is blossoming with fantastic photographs of her skirts and dresses. The website itself features a fully functioning online shopping cart, with a customisable section where you can dress a virtual Dainty Dizzy doll to model your personalised outfit!

I have over 9 years of professional experience as a professional Illustrator and Designer working with hundreds of clients across the world, including British Airways, Sky and TalkCoach. Although i have been doing well over the years, I felt that i was not presenting my REAL self!

I have a massive interest and aim to become succesful in the world of Childrens book illustration and am trying to present this in my branding.
I am recognized for being a previous winner of the DAF Award and my work has also been featured at the London Design Festival. I am currently well known for my cheeky styling with the Clickety Books range that I have been working on.

I have no set fee because every project is different! I will happily negotiate for those on smaller budgets and also offer package deals to make some big savings.

I have kept to my favoured colour schemes, I have been able to use this consistently throughout my branding,

My old design still gets good comments but i never felt 100% about the way it presented me as a graphic designer & especcially the way it portrayed my character as an illustrator.

See I am  quirky designer and Illustrator  and i wanted people to see this through my site, so when they click on a page they get a feeling for exactly who i am and what i stand for!

I feel that the new site offers so much more than just a pretty gallery and funny images. Its kept the user friendliness of the old site but has the edge with a new project gallery, So you can now see the various picturesfor each project instead of just one, which really used to bug me!

This site also offers my new clients with a feel of who i am as a person which is important for me, As i want them to feel comfortable with whom they are working with.

This project started off as a magazine… 30 pages long! But ended up a full 128 pages.

It has been a challenge and a learning curve both for myself and the writer Janet Axten, Its been amazing working with the partners and also the printers Francis Anthony.

The Archive first approached me with the idea of creating such a book. They had no concept of what they wanted it to look like, nor how they wanted it to be presented, So i was given complete design freedom to create a concept/theme, in which i decided as it was a collation of memories, that i would design it in such a way to capture this feeling, so that the reader feels they are part of the journey almost, So the design began!Once the ideas and concept was in place, the theme developing, I started to think about the print, what papers? what feel? I wanted the book to have an old feel, nothing glossy nor shiny So i contacted a few local printers, but Francis Anthony had the
perfect source i was after!I am extremely pleased with the result. Its got such an amazing texture, matt finish. you can feel the journey as you skim through which was exactly what i was after!

So… The it came to the launch! AMAZING feeling to be asked to sign something you have made! It was held at the Tate in St Ives on 2nd September 2011. On a delightful sunny eve too!

“THE St Ives Memory Bay project launched their compellation of oral history recordings in book form St Ives: Art Colony and the Community, at the Tate Cafe on Friday evening (Sept. 2). Over the past three yearsthe volunteers at the St Ives Archive Centre and the Memory Bay project have been interviewing people throughout St Ives to record their recollections of the town, especially with regard to the artists and artistic tradition of the town.
