The Eagles, Live in London’s O2 Arena June 2014…. It was AWESOME!!!!
WELL I HAVE FINALLY DONE IT!!! Yep I have been to see my ALL TIME FAVOURITE band The Eagles!
For my entire life I have been a huge Eagles fan! So to hear that they were coming to the O2 in London, was the chance of a lifetime for me!
‘The History of the Eagles’, makes you wonder if this will be their last tour?? As Don Henley and Glenn Frey haven’t publicly decided whether things will continue beyond the tours 2015. So it makes me think this could be their last tour? BOOHOO! 🙁 it has been seven years since The Eagles last put out anything new, and even ‘Long Road Out Of Eden’ was the only release since 1979.
But WHAT A TOUR guys!!! WOW! stunning. The way the night was set out was brill! telling the tale of how they got together, who gradually joined the band, how they started out! AND Bernie Leadon!! what a treat/surprise that was!
Set out in chronological order – showing the strength building the band through the years. Starting the set with old amps, and cases/stools to sit on! setting the sense of the early beginnings. The band build in number early on, mirroring their early days. Glenn Frey and Don Henley open alone, with Henley offering tales of writing early songs. It was extremely intimate, beautiful and breathtaking in places, playing a quiet interlude before the band members gradually join in, even former member Bernie Leadon, before Joe Walsh & Timothy Schmidt also join in to complete the band!!
The show included over 30 songs, NO SUPPORT! just pure eagles ALL night long! PERFECT! The gig at 3hours long in total! and still fans were screaming for more at the end of it!!!! It’s very easy to see why a band like The Eagles still sell out The O2; an audience of 20,000. They played all the greats… some of the tracks included:

The sound was BANG ON! ALL NIGHT LONG! If they’ve got any worse over the years, then frankly it’s terrifying to think how good they must have been back in the 70s. Oh how I wish I could have seen them then! They were all as tight as a nut, the harmonies, the music, the vocals! Just says it all really… what a true great band they REALLY are!
Was great to see all the singers do a song each too…. Great solo tracks by Joe Walsh….. well…. he is my fav! 😉
He did the ‘legendary’ head cam with ‘lifes been good’!! GREAT moment! but a nice surprise with ‘#Funk 49’ from his ‘James Gang’ Days! What an awesome performance! Kicked it off with a great Jam between Joe and Glenn!
Also great songs sang by bass player Timothy Schmidt: His voice still as angelic as always!
Overall It was a cracking night! MY GOD…. if they tour again! i’m booking ALL the nights they do! as it was incredible!
The place was stacked and the atmosphere was brilliant! Well worth going to see! Cant wait for the Blue ray to come out now!
Heres a glimpse at the night:
